Town Manager
General
Town of Orchid's Town Manager handles a multitude of responsibilities for its administration and residents. This Charter Officer is Town of Orchid's CEO and CFO, and serves at the pleasure of the Town Council, which relies upon her for the smooth operation of town business. This means that she must ensure that all laws, Charter provisions, ordinances, resolutions, and other acts of the Council subject to enforcement by him are faithfully executed. The Town Manager prepares and submits the annual budget, budget message, and capital program to the Council. She keeps the Council fully advised as to the financial condition and future needs of the Town, and makes recommendations to the Council concerning the affairs of the Town.
About Our Town Manager
Cherry Stowe was born in the Netherlands and came to the United States, and Vero Beach specifically, in 2007 having in that same year completed a Master's Degree with distinction at the University of Dundee in Scotland. She became a naturalized citizen of the United States on January 8, 2013, but remains fluent in Dutch as well as English.
After working in a corporate senior account management position for Houston-based Pinnacle Financial Strategies, she joined the Town Administration of the Town of Orchid in mid-December 2015 in the position of Town Clerk. On May 30, 2019, Cherry Stowe earned her designation as a Certified Municipal Clerk from the International Institute of Municipal Clerks. She was the second Town Clerk for Orchid to achieve this designation.
On December 7 of 2021, the Town Council unanimously promoted Cherry Stowe to the position of Town Manager effective December 15 of the same year, her employment anniversary with the Town of Orchid.
She has volunteered for Dogs & Cats Forever; No-Kill Shelter since 2011. Travel is a personal passion, but she particularly appreciates the rich cultural and arts heritage of the Indian River communities.
