Our Town Clerk handles a multitude of responsibilities for the Town's Administration and residents. This Charter Officer is the Town's Custodian of Records and Records Management Liaison Officer. In addition, the Town Clerk is instrumental in the areas of meeting and agenda management, human resources, local elections, financial accounting, procurement, policy and law drafting, the streetlight program, the trash and recycling collection programs and more. The Town Clerk works closely with the Town Manager to ensure smooth operation of Town business and transparency thereof to the public. The Town Clerk manages this website and welcomes your feedback.
About Our Town Clerk
Jane Garcia hails from New England, having been born in Massachusetts and raised in New Hampshire. She spent her life living in NH until 2018.
Jane earned her Associate’s Degree in Business Science from Castle Jr. College in Windham, NH in 1987. She started her municipal career in 1992, serving the City of Portsmouth, NH Fire Department, then transferring to the Town of Hampton, NH Fire Department in 1997 serving as the Fire Chief’s Executive Assistant. She served in that capacity for nine years until she was promoted to Deputy Town Clerk in June of 2006.
In March of 2007, after learning that the current Town Clerk was retiring, Jane decided to run for Town Clerk, an elected position in NH. She won that election with 78% of the votes and served the Town of Hampton as Town Clerk for almost 12 years, having been reelected to three more three-year terms. Jane earned the designation of Certified Municipal Clerk from the International Institute of Municipal Clerks on July 30, 2015. She retired from the Town of Hampton on October 1, 2018, with 26 years of experience in municipal government, in order to move to Florida for love.
In February 2024, Jane was unanimously appointed to the role of Town Clerk by the Town Council of Orchid and she started in the position March 7, 2024. She is ecstatic to be back in the Town Clerk world, now in the Sunshine State.
She has a love of crafting and travel, but puts family, friends, and her residents above everything else.
