Town Hall Moving to New Space

Last September, the Town Council unanimously approved a lease for new office space to house Town Hall in a location much more convenient to local residents. For more than a decade, Town Hall has been located along U.S. Highway 1 in Proctor Plaza on the mainland in Indian River County. And, although that location has served the Town well, the Council recognized that the office also felt somewhat disconnected from the barrier island community it serves. So when it was discovered that there was the right amount of space in a great location on the island, the Town Council grabbed the opportunity to bring Town Hall closer to residents. That space is at the Orchid Island Professional Centre on the north west corner of Route 510 and Highway A1a, which has since October been renovated for the Town's purposes and is now ready to be occupied.

During the week of March 19, Town staff will close Town Hall for two days to manage the move. Much preparation has gone into making the transition as smooth as possible, but visitors may have to pardon our boxes for a little while to come. The Town Council and staff look forward to welcoming you to these new premises, where there is space for the Town to host its public meetings. These Council Chambers do not rival the Orchid Island Beach Club's Sandpiper Room, where the Town has held its meetings since 2017, in regard to size, but will likely serve the public well for regular meetings. Any meeting or workshops likely to draw a large crowd will still be scheduled in the Sandpiper Room.

The meeting space and administrative offices are located on the second floor of the building. There is an elevator as well as two staircases by which one can reach this level.

The current Town Hall unit has been listed for sale through Proctor Kennedy.
