Water Conservation Month

At the meeting of April 5, Mayor Gibbons presented a proclamation to James Cannon, the Intergovernmental Coordinator Governmental Affairs Program of the St. Johns River Water Management District in the Town Council's recognition of Water Conservation Month. The proclamation included the following:

Whereas, pursuant to the Town's Comprehensive Plan's goals, objectives and policies, the Town of Orchid supports the efforts of St. Johns River Water Management District to increase public awareness of the importance and necessity of water conservation and responsible water management practices; and

Whereas, the State of Florida has designated April, typically a dry month when water demands are most acute, Florida’s Water Conservation Month, to educate citizens about how they can help save Florida’s precious water resources; and

Whereas, the Town of Orchid recognizes the ability of each of its local residents to make a difference in the statewide effort to conserve water this and every month for the benefit of the overall community as well as the precious environment in which we live.

Now therefore, the Town of Orchid, with the St. Johns River Water Management District and the State of Florida, shall promote the month of April as a period for residents to become informed on the need to save water.

Be it resolved, that the Town Council of the Town of Orchid, in a public meeting this 5th of April, does hereby recognize the month of April as Water Conservation Month.
