The Town of Orchid's dune repair project is ongoing, following mobilization by Guettler Brothers Construction on January 20. The project is estimated to take 3 weeks, but coastal conditions could impact that timeline. The work takes place around the tides, but is generally happening between 7:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. daily, including on Saturdays. Sign up for Town emails to get the latest updates.
The project responds to erosion sustained by Hurricane Milton in October 2024. The Town Council evaluated the possibility of addressing the damage during the construction window in winter 2025, but, in consultation with Coastal Waterways Design & Engineering, determined that the beach conditions were not conducive to a successful project. The repair was postponed until the next construction window: November 2025-February 2026.
