Canvassing Board Meeting (Logic & Accuracy Test)

The Canvassing Board Meeting will regard the Logic and Accuracy Test of Voting Equipment (9 a.m.) and the Open, Process Ballots, and Duplication of Mail Ballots (9:45 a.m.) for the Special Election to held on February 24, 2026. Per F.S. 101.572, all Canvassing Board meetings are open to the public. See location and map below.

Note: Processing of mail ballots includes running ballots through the tabulation system.

A candidate, a political party official, a political committee official, or an authorized designee thereof, is allowed to observe the duplication of ballots and shall be granted reasonable access upon request to review or inspect ballot materials before canvassing or tabulation. Complete and return the relevant form to the Indian River County Supervisor of Elections Office (form is available online). 

In accordance with the Sunshine Law of Florida, these meetings are open to the public. Any challenge of a vote-by-mail ballot must be made before the ballots are canvassed, F.S. 101.68(2)(a).  It may become necessary for the Canvassing Board to reconvene at times or places other than specified above.  If so, the location, date, and time will be announced at the conclusion of the previous meeting, posted online on the Town's website and the Indian River County Supervisor of Elections' website, and be posted on the door of Orchid's Town Hall and on the door of the Supervisor of Elections Office.

Note: Section 286.0105, Florida Statutes, states that if a person decides to appeal any decision by the board, agency, or commission with respect to any matter considered at a meeting or hearing, he or she will need a record of the proceedings, and that, for such purpose, he or she may need to ensure that verbatim record of the proceedings is made, which record includes the testimony and evidence upon which the appeal is to be based.
