Paul Knapp & Daniel McEvoy Sworn In on Town Council

On November 6, the new Town Council of the Town of Orchid was seated. Incumbent Paul Knapp and newcomer Daniel McEvoy, who had been unopposed in the 2024 election, were sworn in by Town Clerk Jane Garcia. They took the following oath in accordance with the Town Charter:

"I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support, honor, protect, and defend the Constitution and Government of the United States and of the State of Florida; that I am duly qualified to hold office under the Constitution of the State and under the Charter of the Town of Orchid; and that I will well and faithfully perform the duties of (title of office) on which I am now about to enter, so help me God."

They then immediately started their 4-year terms on the board. They will serve alongside Councilmembers Bob Gibbons, John Heanue and Jim Raphalian, whose terms will be up for election next in 2026.

The selection of Mayor and Vice-Mayor by the members of the Town Council for the upcoming year will be attended to at the November 19 meeting.
