Orchid’s Trash & Recycling Schedule To Change

Inside a vast recycling warehouse, towering piles of crushed cardboard, plastic, and paper create a cluttered, industrial scene.Starting the week of July 19, changes will go into effect for the trash and recycling collection schedule in our community.

Trash will still be collected twice-weekly, but on Mondays and Thursdays, instead of Tuesdays and Fridays. And our once-weekly recycling collection will take place on Thursdays, instead of Fridays.

The solid waste collection companies and Town staff are hopeful this new schedule will actually end up working out better, even if it may take a little getting accustomed to. The trash and recycling will still be collected not long before the start of the weekend, but now with extra time to have any missed pick-ups remedied prior to the weekend. And any weekend trash will be picked up on Monday for a nice fresh start to the week.

So starting the third full week of July, this will be the new schedule:

  • Monday, July 19: trash collection
  • Thursday, July 22: trash and recycling collection
  • This will repeat week after week going forward

Apart from the schedule change, the services by Waste Pro and Waste Management remain unchanged; there will still be garage-side collection, and you're still asked to have your carts accessible by 7:15 a.m. And as usual, if you have any oversized items that do not fit in your cart or your address has been inadvertently missed in a pickup, please contact our Town Clerk or any of her colleagues to arrange resolution for you.

And don't let this opportunity go to waste to read more about the trash and recycling programs, or to reach out to our Town Clerk about going on a tour of the regional recycling facility!
