The Town Council was pleased to invite Dr. David K. Moore to receive a proclamation in his honor at the meeting on April 2, 2025. The proclamation recognized Dr. Moore for his significant achievements as Superintendent of Indian River County's School District. He has earned a number of impressive accolades in the role, including most recently being a finalist for the competitive National Superintendent of the Year for 2025.
His tenure in our County so far is still relatively short, at just 5 years, but the positive impact he has had in that time is outsized. Read more about his long list of accomplishments here and elsewhere in his online biography.
Following is the text of Town of Orchid's proclamation:
Whereas, the residents of the Town of Orchid recognize the importance in every child’s life of a solid education to serve as a foundation upon which all future success will be built; and- Whereas, Dr. David K. Moore, in his role as Superintendent of Schools in Indian River County, has demonstrated his unwavering commitment to sustained academic progress for the entire student body in his care, leading to myriad soaring statistics that attest to the excellence and innovation with which he stewards these young minds into a bright future for themselves as well as for our area; and
- Whereas, Dr. Moore has not only propelled the remarkable accomplishments of the local school-age population of Indian River County onto the national stage, but he has done so while developing a fiscal policy for the School District that perfectly balances cost-saving measures, generous support for teachers, and overall financial resilience; and
- Whereas, Dr. Moore’s significant achievements have already very deservedly earned him recognition, among other impressive accolades, as the 2024 Consortium of Florida Education Foundations STAR Superintendent, the 2025 Superintendent of the Year for the State of Florida, and a 2025 National Superintendent of the Year Finalist.
- Now therefore, the Town Council of the Town of Orchid wishes to express its sincere gratitude for the transformational leadership with which he serves as Superintendent for the School District of Indian River County; thus
- Be it proclaimed that the Town Council of the Town of Orchid, in a public meeting this 2nd day of April in the year 2025, does hereby confer its very highest commendation upon: Dr. David K. Moore.
