Decade of Dedication: Town Staff Celebrates Big Milestone

Gold “10” anniversary emblem with laurel wreaths, “Decade of Dedication” banner, and blue, gold, and silver confetti on white.Time flies! It has already been 10 years since Teresa Brown, our Building Clerk, and Cherry Stowe, our Town Manager, started at Town Hall for the Town of Orchid. Neither had governmental experience, but both arrived with an eagerness to learn and to serve the community to the highest standard.

The Town Council recently discussed the performance of staff and expressed its collective enthusiasm for the small but hard-working and effective team at Town Hall, which includes newer colleague Jane Garcia, Town Clerk, with 21 months under her belt for Orchid.

A lot has happened in the past decade, both at Town Hall as well as in the community. Cherry and Teresa have been delighted to play a role in the continued thriving of this slice of paradise, which just keeps getting better and better. The residents of Orchid are a wonderful population to serve, and all your members of staff at Town Hall look forward to the future.

A new goal for staff is to have more “face time” with residents. In recent years, Town Hall staff have worked hard to be more visible to the community in an informative way, but that effort has really been conducted entirely from Town Hall so far.

From there, it can be difficult to find out about events it might be useful for staff to participate in. If there are opportunities for direct connection with members of the community while making a positive impact or learning about something of local interest, please contact Town Hall at (772) 581-2770. Any feedback regarding the administration of Town services is also always very welcome.

Here's to the next 10 years...
