Trash talk is big in Orchid right now... That's because the Town Council is seeking to enter into a new agreement for trash collection services effective October 1, 2025, when the current agreement is due to expire. 1 of the considerations is whether to opt for once- or twice-weekly garage-side services for single-family residences. Your feedback is sought!
The difference in pricing between those options (once- vs. twice-weekly) is considered by the Town Council to be nominal, but they found that switching to once-weekly service for individual homes was worth considering anyway, as it would provide the benefit of halving the days trash-collection trucks are in the community, where streets sometimes suffer from congestion.
The Town Council is for that reason interested in obtaining an agreement that includes both frequency options to be able to switch as may be desirable. Bearing in mind that flexibility, they would like to get your feedback on starting with once-weekly collection services for single-family residences to experience what that is like.
- Do you anticipate that once-weekly trash collection services could suffice for your home in Orchid?
Please email the Town Manager with your messages, from where they will be collated and provided to the Town Council, which expects discussion on this subject to continue at their January 7 meeting. It's helpful to include your address in the message.
Please note that recycling collection will remain once-weekly, as it is now. Yard waste is excluded from collection services in Orchid and is expected to continue to be. Curbside collection is not being considered by the Town Council at this time. Feel free to reach out with any questions you may have about any of the above.
